AVI Director of Education Gabriela led a workshop on Understanding anti-Jewish Hatred at two Toronto Catholic schools this week

On behalf of Allied Voices for Israel (AVI), I am proud to share that our Director of Education Gabriela Rosenblum led sessions on Understanding Anti-Jewish Hatred at two different Catholic schools in the Greater Toronto Area this week.

Students were incredibly engaged, enthusiastic, and eager to learn, with many asking questions to gain further knowledge about how to identify and understand antisemitism in their midst.

AVI is honoured to partner with curator Sharon Zohar for the second volume of Proof of Life – an anthology of thoughts, stories, and creativity in response to October 7th and its aftermath.

The second volume will shine a light specifically on non-Jewish allies of Israel and give them the chance to share their stories.

If you are an ally of Israel and the Jewish people, it's time to speak up. Share your powerful words and reflection on life post October 7th and the subsequent rise of antisemitism.

The deadline to submit is February 27th, 2025. Proceeds of the book will go towards AVI's initiatives in uniting students of all backgrounds against anti-Jewish hatred.

Warren Kinsella led our second AVI/HRC Campus Media Fellowship webinar

Our AVI/HonestReporting Canada Campus Media Fellows had their second webinar with Canadian lawyer, author, musician, political consultant, and commentator Warren Kinsella.

Kinsella has written commentary in most of Canada's major newspapers and several magazines, including The Globe and Mail, the Toronto Sun, Ottawa Citizen, the National Post, The Walrus, and Postmedia newspapers.

He took our fellows through the basics of op-ed writing, and how to craft a voice that will get you noticed and published.

West Coast Advisor Jean-Luc Mudingayi with our Calgary students at the University of Calgary, for a tabling in partnership with Save A Child's Heart

We had a very successful Save A Child's Heart Canada tabling at the University of Calgary, in partnership with StandWithUs Canada and Students Supporting Israel (SSI) Calgary.

It was a pleasure having our Student Ambassadors participate in the campaign and promote awareness of this important Israeli organization and its life-saving work with children from across the Middle East.

Our very own Common Ground Ambassador Katie, was recently published in University of Ottawa's Independent Student News Outlet, The Fulcrum! Katie's piece discusses her recent experience in Israel with AVI and how to reframe the narrative.

My 10-day journey through Israel, thanks to the non-profit advocacy organization, Allied Voices for Israel (AVI), was nothing short of eye-opening. AVI did a phenomenal job to make sure that me and the other students on the trip would learn the good, the bad, and the ugly about the geopolitical situation, from multiple perspectives, writes Katie.

Long story short, in the land commonly perceived by its political divisions, I discovered something transformative: the power of conversation to bridge even the deepest of divides.
