Kanye West is one of the most well-known and divisive individuals in the music business. While his songs and style have garnered attention, he has also been in several controversies during his career. His antisemitism is one of the most famous controversies surrounding Judaism and people of colour.
On numerous occasions, the internet has accused West of being antisemitic. In 2013, his song "New Slaves" was criticized when he rapped, "Illuminati want my mind, soul, and my body/Secret society, trying to keep their eye on me." During an interview with TMZ in 2018, West made many contentious remarks. He asserted that Jews controlled the media and urged that living in slavery was a choice. West stated, "when you hear about slavery for 400 years, for 400 years, that sounds like a choice...You was there for 400 years and it's all of y'all. It's like we're mentally imprisoned... we're choosing to be enslaved."
