We love highlighting our incredible student leaders, who have stepped up as powerful and courageous allies when our campuses and communities needed it most. Four of our incredible allies, representing schools in Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia, will come together for a panel discussion at our upcoming webinar: Speaking Up Against Jew Hatred: Allies on Campus.

Join us for a powerful conversation featuring our allied Common Ground Ambassadors:

💜 Katie (uOttawa)

💙 Emerson (MRU)

💛 Tiuana (Western)

💚 Joseph (UBC)

They will share their experiences in fostering allyship, building community, and standing up against antisemitism on campus. Let’s learn how allies are making a difference — and how you can, too.

A few weeks after the launch of the second volume of our poetry anthology, AVI took to the streets and asked strangers to read an emotional poem from “Never Again: Allies Speak Out Against Antisemitism”.

The poem was “A Mother’s Worried Gaze” - written by Iranian activist and ally Reza Azarpoor (@thebeekeeperiran). It captures what so many feel but few can put into words.

The voices of these empathetic strangers reminded us: standing against hate starts with empathy.

(Left to right): Stacey Granovsky, Co-Founder of Secure Canada, Raheel Raza, Co-Founder, Council of Muslims Against Antisemitism (CMAA), and AVI Founder Daniel Koren

Since October 7, Jewish Canadians have stood on the front lines against rising antisemitism and anti-Zionism - in the media, our classrooms, our campuses, our unions, our workplaces, our government, on our streets, and online.

The Tachlis! Jewish Advocacy Conference brought together various Leaders, organizations, and community members for a day of reflection, learning, and connection, with the aim of turning fragmentation into unity, anxiety into action, and conviction into impact.

AVI’s Founder and Executive Director Daniel Koren had the honour of being invited to speak at and moderate two of the panels:

Campus Advocacy Panel - with Jacqueline Dressler, Senior Director of Advocacy, Hillel Ontario, and Jesse Primerano, Executive Director, StandWithUs Canada

Allyship in Action Panel - with Raheel Raza, Co-Founder, Council of Muslims Against Antisemitism (CMAA), and Stacey Granovsky, Co-Founder, Secure Canada

A huge thank you to Daniel Warner - Tachlis! Chair, Yalla! Community Co-Founder, and Chaitech Canada Founder and CEO - for organizing the conference and facilitating such incredible and important discussions!

BC Allyship Advisor Stefanie Broit participated in some special Diwali celebrations!

BC Allyship Advisor Stefanie Broit celebrated Diwali at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Delta, BC, alongside Jaime Stein, Director, Western Canada of Friends of Simon Wiesenthal.

“It was my first experience celebrating Diwali in a Hindu temple, and I’m still deeply moved by the community’s hospitality, traditions, care, and dedication in bringing this celebration to life. It truly touched my heart,” wrote Stefanie in a recent instagram post.

This year’s theme, “Samp” (Unity), couldn’t have been more meaningful and a powerful reminder that while our faiths and customs may look different, our shared values of community, service, and making the world a better place unite us all.

Thank to all the wonderful members of the BAPS community for welcoming us with such kindness and warmth! We hope that everyone celebrating had a joyous Diwali.

AVI High School Advisor Michelle Gorokhovsky had such a great time tabling at Tanenbaum CHAT!

She loved connecting with students, sharing meaningful conversations, and introducing them to Common Roots, AVI’s brand-new high school program, empowering Jewish and non-Jewish allies to learn, lead, and take action together.

We’re thrilled to see this year’s cohort grow into a community of young changemakers dedicated to allyship and understanding.

Our Director of Quebec and Atlantic Canada, Noa Peretz Benchaya, led an incredible workshop on “Building Meaningful Allyships on Campus” (Part 2), at Bialik High School in Montreal.

Students dove deep into what it means to be an ally, exploring how empathy, understanding, and action can help create stronger, more inclusive campus communities.

We’re so proud of these future leaders and the thoughtful conversations they sparked. The work of allyship starts here.

Our #AmbassadorSpotlight is Mount Royal University Student Noa

Meet Noa - one of our amazing Common Ground Israel Ambassadors studying nursing at Mount Royal University!

“I am Canadian-Israeli, born in Israel, and the great-granddaughter of Holocaust survivors. I’ve faced anti-Jewish hatred for as long as I can remember, starting in high school and continuing into university. Those experiences have shaped who I am and fueled my determination to speak up. At Mount Royal University, I became involved in multiple pro-Israel clubs, working to build a united community on campus. When the opportunity to attend the Common Ground trip came up, I knew I wanted to be part of it and get the chance to connect with peers who felt the same as I did.

During the trip, I learned about Jewish indigeneity in Israel and our history in Italy, and was able to participate in workshops to become better equipped to advocate on campus. Being surrounded by both Jewish students and allies reminded me that I’m not alone, and it was empowering to build relationships and gain tools for effective advocacy. I left with a renewed sense of purpose, and I can’t wait to take what I’ve learned back to campus as I continue to stand up for my identity and for truth.”
