Building bridges means making room for complex conversations, which is why Allied Voices for Israel (AVI) travelled to the United States of America last week!

AVI was proud to participate in the Generation Zion Action Summit in Washington, D.C., uniting Jewish and Christian students for open dialogue. It was an impactful opportunity to hear from diverse campus voices and engage with student leaders.

We deeply value spaces where different perspectives can come to the table, listen to one another, and build real understanding. It was so gratifying hearing from such powerful and courageous Jewish and Christian voices!

This FREE event is happening on Sunday, August 23rd in Earl Bales Park in Toronto. It will be a day of live entertainment, poetry, authentic cuisine, and experiences that bring our communities together. We are excited to partner with the Magen Group, Music in the Park Toronto, Saliwan Gym, and others in support of Living Jewishly and Unity Through Sport.

On our Israel trip with Montreal's Israeli Consulate and Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs this week, Fanshawe College student George and University of Toronto student Rhyenne comment on the concerning findings of a new major national survey of Jewish university students released in collaboration with The Office of the Special Envoy and the Network of Engaged Canadian Academics (NECA).

The survey presents the experiences of Canadian-Jewish postsecondary students with all forms of antisemitism.

Both George and Rhyenne were unsurprised by the findings, and spoke on how the concerning statistics only strengthened and reinforced their purpose and passion for being in Israel.

YALLA!, Toronto Tempo, AVI, and other organizations in the community are proud to invite Jewish families, friends and allies from across Ontario to a meaningful evening celebrating our community and the historic arrival of the WNBA in Toronto. This inaugural Jewish Community Night is the beginning of what we hope will become an annual tradition celebrating Jewish life, community and participation in Canadian sport.

Toronto is now home to Canada’s first WNBA franchise, thanks to the vision and leadership of Canadian Jewish philanthropist and business leader Larry Tanenbaum.

At a time when Jewish institutions in our city have come under attack, including shootings and acts of arson targeting synagogues, bakeries and restaurants, it has never been more important to come together with confidence in our Jewish faith, identity and pride. We gather not simply because of the challenges we face, but because celebrating Jewish life together is itself an expression of strength.
