As Yom HaZikaron ends, we honour the memories of the 30,646 Israelis who have fallen in defence of the Jewish State and through terror. May their memories forever be a blessing.
We also keep in our hearts the 59 hostages still remaining in Gaza.
This week, our High School Advisor Zachary Rusonik, West Coast Campus Advisor Jean-Luc Mudingayi, and AVI Common Ground alumna Mishel Anisimob shared heartfelt messages this Yom HaZikaron. To hear their poignant statements, please click here.
25,420 soldiers and first responders, and 5,229 civilians, have lost their lives to war and terror protecting the Jewish homeland. May their memories be a blessing.
Among the lives lost on October 7, 2023 were eight Canadians. To read their stories, please click here.
As wildfires rage across the Judean Hills, Israel has called on several European countries for assistance. Greece and Italy have already committed to sending support. Meanwhile, Israeli authorities have arrested several Palestinian arsonists in connection with the fires, and Hamas has openly called on Palestinians to “make Jerusalem burn.”
These fires have forced the cancellation of Memorial Day ceremonies in parts of the country, robbing Israelis of the chance to mourn. What should be a solemn day of remembrance has instead turned into one of chaos, fear, and devastation.
We are deeply grateful to the hundreds of firefighters, paramedics, and other first responders who are battling the flames, evacuating residents, and treating the injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with Israel and all the affected communities during this painful time.

Another tumultuous academic year has come to a close for college and university students across Canada, with pro-Hamas groups continuing their efforts to harass and intimidate students and to silence opponents.
How has the last year looked on Canadian campuses? Has anything changed since the previous year, and what has been the impact on the majority of students who do not share the pro-terror extremism of these anti-Israel groups?
Our Founder and Executive Director Daniel Koren appeared on The Honest Report podcast to reflect on the last year on Canadian campuses.

We were recently quoted in an Algemeiner article by McGill University student Maris Brail.
In “How Canadian Universities Are Allowing Jewish Students to Be Doxxed and Harassed,” Brail explains how anonymous doxxing is rapidly becoming a real threat to Jewish students on campuses across the country.
“With the rise of the digital age, an entirely new form of harassment and intimidation has emerged. Nameless accounts run by faceless adversaries comment on, post about, and attack others — their identities hidden behind a digital mask,” writes Brail.
“That’s the situation that pro-Israel Jewish Canadians have been facing for over a year — and it threatens free expression, academic integrity, and open discourse.”

What happened to Nepali hostage Bipin Joshi?
A Nepali agriculture student, Joshi was one of the dozens of foreign workers kidnapped alongside Israelis during the October 7 attacks. When Gaza militants stormed the Israeli farm he was working in, Joshi risked his life to save his friends.
His family and friends fear for his fate after 500 days in captivity, especially since there has been no information of the 24-year-old since the day he was kidnapped.
