Over the weekend, as anti-Israel activists boycotted Indigo locations across Canada in a showing of vile anti-Jewish hatred, Allied Voices for Israel (AVI) staged a BUYcott and encouraged our students to visit their local Indigo and buy a book on AVI! 

We are pleased to share that we have been told by Indigo staff that whenever the haters stage a boycott, the response from Jewish and allied communities is always tremendous.

We are particularly proud of our Common Ground Ambassador Lotan Wider, a tenacious student at York University, for joining our #BUYcott and speaking about his experience in a video he posted online.

This is our second year promoting this important campaign, which aims to reclaim the narrative that businesses should suffer at the expense of hatred and discrimination disguised as “resistance.”

As a new school year rolls around (how time flies), our incredible AVI Student Ambassadors and staff have been as busy as ever, making sure that our presence and mission on campus is louder and more impactful than ever before. 

Numerous first-year students flocked to AVI's table at the pre-orientation day at Hillel at Queen's University. Our programs generated a lot of buzz from new undergraduate students, and our AVI swag were a huge hit!

The back-to-school energy at OCAD University was in full swing! ⁠

AVI Common Ground Ambassadors and OCAD Jewish Club leaders Miranda Kanter and Zachary Gross teamed up for a great tabling event on campus in downtown Toronto to mark the beginning of a new school year. ⁠

Students stopped by for donuts, AVI swag, and most importantly, to learn how they can stand with Israel and fight against anti-Jewish hatred on campus. 

Director of Quebec and Atlantic Canada Noa Peretz Benchaya kicked things off for students in Montreal

In Montreal, AVI joined our friends at Hillel Montreal for their Welcome Back Soirée, where students stopped by to meet our team, grab AVI swag, and learn how to get involved on campus. A special shoutout to our Director of Quebec and Atlantic Canada Noa Peretz Benchaya, who made sure everyone left with some goodies! 

We are excited for another year of student engagement, allyship, and building a stronger campus community throughout Montreal.⁠
