This week, we bring you a special and important Common Voices Podcast episode. Host and Allied Voices for Israel (AVI) Founder and Executive Director Daniel Koren engages in a powerful and eye-opening conversation with Harry LaForme, Canada's first Indigenous appellate court judge.
We delve into his unique perspective as an advocate for both the Indigenous and Jewish communities, and how he recognizes the ancient and undeniable right to self-determination of the Jewish people in their ancestral homeland of Israel.

Laforme, a member of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, shares his personal journey and explains why he feels a profound kinship with the Jewish people. He draws powerful parallels between the shared histories of suffering, persecution, and resilience.
This conversation explores how communities forged through collective trauma often find common ground and gravitate towards each other.
In an excerpt from the episode, Justice LaForme discusses the hypocrisy of the recent anti-Israel encampments on campuses across Canada, where non-Indigenous students were dictating terms on land that, historically, has never even belonged to them.

In our last episode of Common Voices, we sat down with Yuval David, acclaimed content creator, LGBTQ+ advocate, and unapologetic voice in the fight against anti-Jewish hatred.
Yuval talked about the dangers of being stuck in an echo chamber that pushes misinformation and creates unnecessary hatred and division in pro-Palestinian spaces, bringing in the politics around pride as a relevant example.
“Most of these people aren’t Muslim, aren’t Jewish, aren’t Arab, and have never been to the Middle East. And yet they’re adopting this plight of people they really don’t know anything about,” says Yuval.
