Our Mount Royal University Students taught their fellow classmates about the holiday of Passover

Our Mount Royal University students got into the Passover spirit before the holiday, by running a Pesach table in partnership with Hillel Calgary. Hope everyone is having a great holiday so far!

Our Common Ground Ambassador Abhinav hosted a film screening of "A Little Poland in India" at Concordia University

Our Common Ground Ambassador Abhinav Deshwar hosted a film screening of A Little Poland in India - a film about then Jam Saheb (Ruler) Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja of Nawanagar creating a camp in Bharat (India) to help Polish children during World War II.

It is a movie demonstrating the powerful and compassionate ties between Hindus and Jews.

Antisemitism in Canada has more than DOUBLED in just 2 years.

Bnai Brith’s 2024 Audit confirms what many Jewish Canadians already feel: Hate is rising—fuelled by lies, silence, and online incitement. 17+ anti-Jewish hate cases per day were recorded in 2024.

That’s more than double the daily number from 2022.

And it’s not just statistics. These are real people facing real threats.

From graffiti to death threats, from harassment in schools to silence in public forums.

🕯️Allyship means speaking up—loudly, publicly, and now. Jews cannot carry this burden alone.

Support Jewish voices and organizations doing this work.

✍️Don't be silent, call out anti-Jewish hate even if it's uncomfortable.

Mamagama consists of a Jewish singer, Lebanese-Russian guitarist and ethnic Azeri drummer.

In #AVINews, Azerbaijan is sending a Jewish singer to Eurovision!

The three-man band from Azerbaijan, made up of a Jewish singer, Lebanese-Russian guitarist and ethnic Azeri drummer, will represent their country this year at the annual competition and hope to also represent a symbol of coexistence, tolerance and love.

“We’re like a big family, really, in our band,” Asaf (Safael) Mishiyev, the lead singer of Mamagama and a proud Mountain Jew (also known as Kavkazi Jews), told The Times of Israel in a recent Zoom interview.

“I think our band can demonstrate this because we’re just like a tolerant Azerbaijani model, because I’m a Jew, Hasan, my friend is a Lebanese Arab and my friend Arif is Azerbaijani,” said Mishiyev.

This week, Stars of David were placed on the graves of Jewish American WWI soldiers at Arlington — finally honouring their identities after 100 years.

As Canadians, we know the importance of recognizing every community’s contribution to our shared history. From our own Jewish veterans to those who served alongside our allies, proper remembrance isn’t just symbolic — it’s a step toward justice.

✡️ Identity matters. Memory matters. And truth, even delayed, deserves its place.

University of British Columbia Student Kirsten Fearman is our #AmbassadorSpotlight

Meet Kirsten, our #AmbassadorSpotlight studying Computer Science at the University of British Columbia.

I am incredibly grateful to Allied Voices for Israel for giving me the opportunity to become a Common Ground Ambassador and participate in the trip to Israel this past Winter break.

My experience in Israel was amazing and I got to see a sliver of what life is really like there, as opposed to the many incorrect narratives found on campus. We were able to speak with many different people on our trip and I learned about some perspectives that I had never previously considered. I feel empowered to bring my knowledge to campus and continue making a positive change in the environment at UBC. I’m thankful for the support from the AVI team in guiding me through this educational experience!
