AVI Student Ambassadors receive Certificates of Appreciation at “United We Stand: An Evening with Yoseph Haddad” in Montreal
Our Canadian tour with Israeli-Arab advocate and journalist Yoseph Haddad started off strong on Tuesday with our first event in Montreal, in partnership with Congregation Shaar Hashomayim, drawing over 630 guests!
On behalf of Allied Voices for Israel (AVI) and Shaar Hashomayim, I would like to thank everyone who attended United We Stand: An Evening with Yoseph Haddad. I would also like to thank the team at the Shaar and our title sponsors IsraeliMall.com and Dr. Steven Stein.
In addition to hearing from Yoseph about his advocacy for Israel and important work building partnerships between Arabs and Jews, attendees had the opportunity to celebrate our AVI Allyship Award recipient in Montreal, Iranian advocate Reza Azarpoor.

A special shout-out to Irwin and Ariela Cotler and former Montreal mayor Denis Coderre for attending the event, as well as our AVI Student Ambassador and moderator Samuel Benzaquen.

Yoseph Haddad leads chants in Arabic at Concordia University after anti-Israel protestors disrupted our tabling event on campus
Prior to our event in Montreal, AVI brought Yoseph to meet students at Concordia University for a tabling event. Haddad wrote signs in Arabic that read “Am Yisrael Chai” and “Together Against Terrorism.”
While the Concordia administration and Concordia Student Union (CSU) attempted to prevent the tabling event from taking place by cancelling it only one hour before it was scheduled, they did not prevent Yoseph from speaking with students, touring Concordia, and leading a successful counter-protest on campus.
While counter-protestors arrived on campus, it did nothing to deter the Jewish and allied students who stood with Yoseph. He asked protestors, in Arabic, why they wouldn't engage in a conversation with him but did not receive any meaningful answers.
Yoseph's energy was infectious and it quickly caught on, with students singing “Am Yisrael Chai” in Arabic and chanting “From Hamas” every time protestors yelled “Free Palestine.”

At one point, Yoseph told protestors, “You couldn't stop me from coming. I'm here. We're here. We're not going anywhere.”
The cancellation of the tabling has been covered in Canadian media, with Yoseph appearing alongside MP Melissa Lantsman on the Ben Mulroney Show this week. Haddad was also interviewed about his experiences here.
