On their very first day of school, many Jewish students and their allies already faced hostile anti-Jewish campaigns and events on campuses across Canada. At Concordia University in Montreal, the Concordia Student Union published a handbook that spreads hate, promotes extremist values, and excuses the justification of terrorism.

This is not just negligence—this is Concordia's administration allowing dangerous radicalization on campus.

Allied Voices for Israel (AVI) has partnered with several campus organizations on a letter-writing campaign demanding students, parents, and administrators say NO to the Concordia Student Union 2025-26 handbook.

To send a pre-written email directly to Dr. Graham Carr (University President), Ms. Hélène Antoniou (Chair of Board of Governors), and Ms. Katie Broad (Dean of Students) demanding urgent action, please click here.

Alberta Advisor and Advocacy Coordinator Jean-Luc Mudingayi (far left) and AVI Calgary students participate in our Indigo #BUYcott campaign

This week, our incredible AVI Student Ambassadors from across Canada participated in a #BUYcott campaign by visiting their local Indigo and buying a book on AVI!

This is our second year leading this initiative, as anti-Israel activists boycott Indigo locations across Canada in a showing of vile anti-Jewish hatred.

It was empowering to see our students from Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver, and Toronto brushing up on their reading and standing by such an important cause.

AVI Student Ambassadors pose at an event in Montreal this week

AVI Student Ambassadors at McGill, Concordia, and the University of Montreal and staff took part in an inspirational evening at NGO Monitor’s event, Beyond the Battlefield – How NGOs Fuel the War on Israel, in Montreal this week.

Students Yana Moscovitz, Eden Kojdan, Ilan Kojdan, Melanie Segev, and Massimo Mazza joined Noa Peretz Benchaya, AVI’s Director of Quebec and Atlantic Canada, to learn more about the hidden war NGOs wage against Israel and how to push back with truth.

A heartfelt thank you to Eric Bissell and the Bissell Family Foundation, true friends of AVI, for sponsoring our students’ participation and making this opportunity possible.

A new survey from the Aristotle Foundation titled, Freedom of expression on campus: A survey of students’ perceptions of free speech at Canadian universities, reveals that Jewish students on Canadian university campuses face more discrimination than any other minority group, and that their apprehension to discuss controversial topics is also more than any other religious group.

760 Canadian students participated in the survey and were surveyed on feelings of discrimination on campus based on religion and political views (among other descriptors, such as race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality).

May Charlie Kirk's memory forever be a blessing

We are devastated over commentator and proud Israel ally Charlie Kirk's tragic death, after he was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University.

Pluralism and coexistence are pillars of a healthy, democratic society. Despite his views being controversial to some, Kirk was a champion of open dialogue and finding common ground – especially with those he disagreed with.

Regardless of their political beliefs or differences, no person should be murdered in broad daylight on a university campus – a place where open discourse and free speech should be championed. This is not a matter of debate, just basic humanity.

This horrifying incident reflects the very real fears many conservative students express, having to make a daily choice between their authentic expression and their safety.

This is a choice no student or individual should EVER have to face.

Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May his memory be a blessing.
