AVI/HRC Campus Media Alumna Ora Bar shows how AVI "Peace & Prosperity" stickers were defaced on campus at Concordia University
In Montreal, AVI/HRC Campus Media Alumna Ora Bar recently teamed up with AVI and Bring Them Home Montreal for a special solidarity march and program.
Ora, a Concordia University graduate whose experiences navigating antisemitism in Canada and the war in Israel have driven her to become a passionate advocate for her community, gave an educational and motivational speech to the attendees.
The event also featured AVI Student Alumna Rachel Karentayer, an art psychotherapist, talented mixed media artist, and arts educator based in Toronto, who led a creative and therapeutic art workshop and helped to uplift the mind and spirit.
In partnership with Hillel Montreal, Federation CJA, and StandWithUs Canada, with support from MASPIK and JNF Canada, AVI is proud to co-present a series of Israel Impact Workshops in Montreal.
Our six-session program is designed to give students the tools, confidence, and knowledge to tackle anti-Israel claims with fact and clarity. Students will learn where to draw the line between criticism and antisemitism, and explore other key topics that will empower you to make an impact in the conversations that matter.Â
Students who attend at least four of the six sessions will receive a $100 stipend.
AVI Common Ground Ambassador Lotan Wider outside York University
Fresh off the AVI mission in Israel this winter, our Common Ground Ambassador Lotan Wider, who is studying Computer Science at York University, put together an excellent reel at his campus where he refutes various anti-Israel falsehoods and forms of propaganda.
To watch the video, please click here. It is definitely a must-watch clip that is both informative and witty. Keep them coming, Lotan!
AVI Common Ground Ambassador Pe'er Krut receives her Certificate of Appreciation from AVI stakeholder Dr. Steven Stein
Over the holiday break, Common Ground Ambassador and UofT Law student Pe’er Krut had the incredible privilege of representing Canadian Jewish students at the World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS) Congress, joining a delegation from the Canadian Union of Jewish Students (CUJS).
Please see a statement from Pe'er on her experience below:
With support from AVI, I connected with Jewish leaders from across the globe in Berlin—the city where WUJS was founded 100 years ago by Albert Einstein.
This experience was transformative. We not only explored Berlin’s deep and complex Jewish history but also built lifelong connections that will shape my leadership in Canada. I had the chance to engage with Jewish peers from South Africa, Europe, Australia, and South America—individuals with unique perspectives and backgrounds, yet united by a shared passion for our identities and missions.
I was inspired by the innovative programs these leaders run in their home countries, from fostering allyship and combating antisemitism to promoting Israel awareness. I return home energized, brimming with ideas, and grateful for the enduring friendships I formed during this remarkable opportunity.
IFCJ Canada staff (left) meet with AVI staff (right) at IFCJÂ headquarters in Toronto
Last week, our Toronto staff had the pleasure of visiting the offices of The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews Canada (IFCJ Canada), an organization that works tirelessly to build bridges of collaboration, allyship, and kindness between Christians and Jews.
IFCJ Canada achieves its mandate through a number of ways, including via humanitarian aid and lifesaving care to Jews in Israel and the Former Soviet Union, as well as through helping Jews make aliyah!
We are excited to continue to collaborate (you may recall our flag-planting initiative outside our AVI offices was sponsored by IFCJ) on our aligned values and create even more change together in 2025.
