Read our statement on the open letter published by 70+ business leaders condemning anti-Jewish hatred and calling on peers to do the same

On June 28, 78 prominent Canadian business and community leaders took a historic stand by publishing an open letter unequivocally condemning anti-Jewish hatred and calling on their peers to do the same

The recent open letter signed by over 70 prominent Canadian business and community leaders, none of whom are Jewish, marks an important and encouraging moment for our country.

Anti-Jewish hatred is not solely a Jewish issue—it is a Canadian issue. When Canadians choose to publicly stand with the Jewish community, they reaffirm a fundamental truth: hatred against one community threatens the values and freedoms of us all.

For far too long, many Jewish Canadians have felt isolated as anti-Jewish hatred has surged in our schools, workplaces, neighbourhoods, and public institutions. Allyship is most meaningful when it comes from those who are willing to speak up even when they are not personally affected. That is exactly what these leaders have done.

The letter was published by the newly-formed Stopping Antisemitism initiative

At Allied Voices for Israel (AVI), we believe that combating anti-Jewish hatred requires a broad coalition of Canadians from every faith, background, and profession. This letter demonstrates that the fight against hate transcends religious and cultural boundaries. It is about defending democracy, pluralism, and the dignity of every Canadian.

As an organization focused on empowering students of all ages and backgrounds to be the change they want to see in the world, it is refreshing to see these Canadian business leaders serve as an important example that they can follow.

We commend each signatory for their moral clarity and courage. Their voices send a powerful message: silence is no longer an option.

Canada is strongest when people of conscience stand together. We hope this initiative inspires more leaders, institutions, and citizens to reject antisemitism in all its forms and to help build a country where Jewish Canadians—and all Canadians—can live openly, safely, and without fear.

This is what true allyship looks like.
