TAKE ACTION: Urge TMU to hold anti-Israel student club responsible for promoting hate and violence
Smashed glass and blood on the scene where anti-Israel protestors invaded a private off-campus event with Israeli speakers
Allied Voices for Israel (AVI) strongly condemns the hateful incident that transpired at Toronto Metropolitan University today.
A few of our AVI Student Ambassadors were harassed and verbally accosted by the violent, anti-Jewish mob who disrupted an event hosted by Students Supporting Israel (SSI) at TMU.
This altercation occurred after Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at TMU openly posted threats to interfere with the event on their social media accounts, encouraging others to do the same.
We condemn the hatred and targeting of events hosted by Jewish clubs. The disproportionate and baseless condemnation of Jewish students on and off campus has got to stop, and we strongly call on the TMU administration to hold those who caused violence, injury, and chaos today fully accountable.
There should be a zero-tolerance policy for aggression of this magnitude, and for blood to be spilled on account of one’s ethnicity, creed, faith, or beliefs. Urgent and immediate action needs to be taken to ensure this doesn’t happen to any student club ever again.
To make your voice heard, please join us in sending an email to TMU President Mohamed Lachemi, demanding that he take action against SJP TMU immediately, by clicking here.
AVI also co-signed a statement alongside our partners at Hillel Ontario and StandWithUs Canada. Please read it below.

We are NOT BACKING DOWN. AVI, alongside our partner clubs SSI TMU and CAMERA on Campus, is scheduled to bring Shai DeLuca – a respected Israel advocate, acclaimed interior designer, media personality, and AVI friend – to TMU in two weeks.
On November 20th, Shai will share his journey and invites us to see Israel through his eyes, shaped by his experiences as an Israeli, designer, and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. Now more than ever, we must hear Shai's story!
